SEPARATE WASTE COLLECTION TO ABATE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
In 2013, the first programme of its kind worldwide, KiSS Mugello was created to raise awareness on the importance of adopting sustainable behaviour during the grand motorbike events. The programme has always stressed the importance of stimulating and leading the large numbers of sports lovers to practice separate waste collection correctly, based on the principles of circular economy.
This year, at the circuit entrance 20,000 kits were given out, with bags for separate wastes and circularl letters (printed on 100% recycled paper and vegetable-based ink).
Ecological isles were set up along the circuit where people could deposit: organic wastes, glass, plastic, metals, tetrapaks, polystyrene, paper and cartons and exhaust batteries. The separate waste collection carried out by the spectators in the week-end of the Grand Prix will be linked, in collaboration with the main national Consortiums for the recycling and recovery of packagings, with a fund-raising for the Meyer Pediatric Hospital Foundation of Florence to support the project "Support for Healthcare Activities."
BATTLE AGAINST FOOD WASTES, FUND-RAISING AND DONATION OF THE FOOD LEFTOVERS
The second main scope of the KiSS Mugello 2017 initiative is that of the battle against food wastes, still within the framework of the circular economy (according to which rejects can become resources). To raise awareness on this theme, which is central also in view of Agenda 2030 and the sustainable Global Goals set by the United Nations, on 3 June in the afternoon, there will be a collection of leftover food to be hosted in the Circuit and by the Teams that will join the initiative. The collection will be done in partnership with the Mugello Autodrome, QUI Foundation, Emporio della Solidarietà and the Municipality of Scarperia and San Piero. It will see the participation of the OMAL volunteers who will distribute on Saturday morning the bins for the collection of leftover foods (completely biodegradable and compostable) and shall be retrieved on Saturday afternoon. The food leftovers will then be donated to non-profit organisations of the territory, whose guests may be able to consume them that same evening.
KiSS Mugello is promoted by the Mugello Circuit, FMI (Italian Motorbike Federation), FIM (International Motorcycling Federation), Dorna (the Spanish company that handles the world biking commercial center), IRTA (The International Road Racing Teams Association).
